Stewart’s Duroc Farm is offering all their Duroc bred gilts due in our late July to early August farrowing. While we are offering all of these gilts the sale will last only until three of the gilts are sold. After three of the gilts are sold the sale will be complete and we will retain the remaining three gilts. In this way we can offer all of our bred gilts but we can still retain some for our herd. The choice is yours which ones sell and which ones we retain. To purchase a gilt simply call Doug Stewart at 319-231-0676. Again when three gilts are sold the sale is over.
Sale is over. Thank you for your interest.
55-6
Bear Claw X Light Em Up
Due 8/2/18 to Creed
Price $6000
The pedigree: 55-6 is sired by the $35,000 Bear Claw (Crossroads) who is a littermate to the $35,000 STC champion and record selling Duroc gilt. The dam of 55-6 is our foundation Light Em Up sow, 59-9. She is also the mother of our herdboars He’s The Light and Impact as well as Mr Right at SGI and the reserve champion barrow at Arizona National.
Why did I pick her to keep in my sow herd? I kept four littermate sisters to put back into my sow herd. They have a tremendous pedigree and 55-6 just looks like a brood sow. She’s correct in her structure, big bodied and her mother is the best sow in my herd
Why did I breed her to Creed? She is bred to Creed the Drake boar at Thompson Brothers. I have great respect for Darrel Drake and and heard great things about Creed. I knew his pigs would be in high demand especially after he sired the champion barrow at the 2018 San Antonio Stock Show. I am looking forward to this litter as much as any litter in my summer/fall farrowings.

55-5
Bear Claw X Light Em Up
Due 8/1/18 to He’s The LIght
Price $4000
The pedigree: 55-5 is sired by the $35,000 Bear Claw (Crossroads) who is a littermate to the $35,000 STC champion and record selling Duroc gilt. The dam of 55-6 is our foundation Light Em Up sow 59-9. She is also the mother of our herdboars He’s The Light and Impact as well as Mr Right at SGI and the reserve champion barrow at Arizona National.
Why did I pick her to keep in my sow herd? I kept four littermate sisters to put back into my sow herd. They have a tremendous pedigree and 55-5 just looks like a brood sow. She is a tick more moderate than her sisters and should be a great breeding piece. Most important, her mother is the best sow in my herd
Why did I breed her to He’s The Light? This is the type of sow that He’s The Light works best on. She’s a big ribbed, big bodied sow that is built just like the mother of Rampage our $30,000 He’s The Light son. Plus this mating gives me a chance to line up the #1 foundation sow on our farm as she is the mother of both the sire and dam of this coming litter.

63-3 SOLD
Structure X Full Back
Due 7/30/18 to Onward
Price $1500
The pedigree: 63-3 is sired by Structure our herdboar who is now at Lean Value. Structure’s sire is American Outlaw who is a littermate to the “Wolf sow” at Brattains who is the dam of both No Rules and Watch N Learn. On the dam side 63-3 is a Full Back X Meatpacker.
Why did I pick her to keep in my sow herd? 63-3 is very unique for a Structure. She is a tall fronted, more extended gilt which is different than most Structures. I felt she would be fun to work with genetically because of this and Structures ability to sire bone and mass.
Why did I breed her to Onward? Onward adds a big blade, center body and base width to everything he’s bred to. He works best on sows that are a tick bigger which is why I think this mating will work. Throw in the bone of the Structure pigs and it should be a great combination.

24-5
Structure X Gold Star
Due 8/2/18 to Cash Rent
Price $1500
The pedigree: Structure is our American Outlaw son who is now at Lean Value. He puts bone and mass into everything he sires. I really feel as I move down the road genetically Structure will show up in a lot of pedigrees for his ability to add heaviness of structure. 24-5’s dam is a Gold Star (Light Em Up) a really extended, pretty fronted sow.
Why did I pick her to keep in my sow herd? I love this 24-5 gilt. She is moderate in her size, big legged and correctly made. She was an easy gilt to keep.
Why did I breed her to Cash Rent? Cash Rent is an older boar at Dave Martins and a boar he credits with adding the great look he has in his herd. Cash Rent is a littermate to High Rent at Lean Value. I simply wanted to add the great look of Cash Rent to the bone and moderate size of 24-5.

19-3 SOLD
Final Thoughts x He’s The One
Due 7/27/18 to He’s The Light
Price $5000
The pedigree: 19-3’s mother is also the mother of our 2017 $15,000 NJSA Foundation Gilt. She is a He’s The One X Light Em Up. Yes the Light Em Up sow is 59-9 our #1 foundation sow and the mother of the two 55 litter gilts in this sale. 19-3’s mother is also a littermate to He’s The Light and Mr Right. Final Thoughts is at Purple Power. He is an Amplify x Honeymoon’s littermate sister.
Why did I pick her to keep in my sow herd? 19-3 is a beast. She stood out for her mass, center and base width. She is not a dink. She is a big, massive, productive gilt. Plus the pedigree on her dam side is as good as I can put together.
Why did I breed her to He’s The Light? Two reasons. 1) This is the exact type of sow that He’s The Light works best on. 2) I am lining up the dam side of the pedigree as He’s The Light and 19-3’s mother are littermates.

65-4 SOLD
Attention X Gold Star
Due 7/23/18 to He’s The Light
Price $2000
The pedigree: Attention is the $190,000 record selling Duroc boar and the 2017 NSR National Sire of the Year. The dam of 65-4 is a Gold Star (Light Em Up). She is one of three littermate sisters that are becoming some of my top sows.
Why did I pick her to keep in my sow herd? 65-4 is a very complete, correctly made gilt. We raise our gilts in a slated confinement building and she thrived in that harsh environment. Gilts designed like 65-4 tend to stay in my herd a long time. Genetically I was excited to put an Attention gilt of this quality into my herd.
Why did I breed her to He’s The Light? He’s The Light has been our top sire over the last year. I felt he would add a tick more bone and top shape to 65-4 yet keep the correct, fault free look that she has. This should be a highly salable litter.
