Champion 4H Market Hog at the 2003 Iowa State Fair
Our daughter, Michelle, exhibited the Champion Barrow, the Champion
Market Hog and the Reserve Supreme Champion Market Hog at the 2003
Iowa State Fair. This home-raised crossbred barrow had a Duroc
mother. It sold in the sale of champions for $6,500. |

2005 Iowa State Fair
Congratulations to Kelly Whipps for exhibiting this grand champion
market hog. This barrow had been named Champion Duroc and Champion
Purebred before beating all the crosses the championship drive. He
later sold for a record price of $13,500 in the sale of champions.
Kelly’s barrow was purchased from us. Semen is available on a
littermate boar, Tonka. We have produced the champion 4-H market hog
at two of the last three years at the Iowa State Fair. |

2005 Grundy County Fair
This spring we sold 9 pigs to the Wayne Whipps family for the derby
contest at the Grundy County Fair. At fair time the 5 ˝ month old
pigs weighed between 286 and 320 pounds and they won the Grand and
Reserve Champion Derby gilt and Champion Derby Barrow. The nine head
averaged between 2.1 and 2.5 pounds of gain per day. |
